Penwythnos Hyffroddi De Cymru / South Wales Paddlesport Weekend

Saturday 16th June - Sunday 17th June 2023

A kayak and canoe training and assessment weekend in South Wales for Scouts and Leaders to gain the British Canoeing / Canoe Cymru Personal Performance Awards , plus an opportunity to undertake the Foundation Safety and Rescue training course. 

Each Scout must come fully equipped with his/her own paddling equipment, some kayaks and canoes may be available to lend by prior arrangement with the local Scout District. The craft should be in good condition and registered with their Scout District and will be inspected by the coaching staff prior to being allowed on the water. Group Leaders or responsible adults should be available ashore to care for any paddler who for any reason leaves the water.

Canoe Cymru will be notified of successful candidates and they will be issued with a certificate by Canoe Cymru. (Price now includes CERTIFICATION COSTS IF SUCCESSFUL).

Foundation Safety and Rescue candidates should also bring a tow line, throw-bag and any rescue equipment already possessed, and recognise that they will spend a lot of time in the water and dress accordingly! This course is subject to Canoe Cymru registration 4 weeks before and early intention of participation is vital, the courses will be cancelled if numbers are insufficient.

Foundation Safety and Rescue

Canoe Award (Must have experience paddling Canoe up to Paddle Explore standard)

Cost : Participants: £50per person for Paddle Awards and £75per person for Foundation Safety and Rescue (FSRT)

Service Crew: £20 per person
